THE “GOOD FRIDAY” EASTER SUNDAY FALLACY

The "Good Friday" EASTER SUNDAY Fallacy

This weekend marks an American holiday that the King of Heaven i.e. Jesus Christ NEVER sanctioned to be observed. Jesus NEVER told us to honor His resurrection which is a Tradition of the Catholic Church alone. Jesus told us to remember His death NOT His resurrection.

The most important sacrament in the Christian church the world over is that of the sacrament of the Lord's Supper that we are told to "remember" His crucifixion and His death on the cross for humanity. Paul clearly understood the importance of remembering the Lord's death and at no time are we ever told in scripture to remember His resurrection. 1Co 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. Yes, the resurrection is very important as it verifies the divinity of the Lord, but we are NOT told to remember it as the pagan day of Easter honors it. The word "Easter" is only found once in scripture.

Paganism had already crept into the church in the 1st century during the time of Jesus. Act 12:4 And when he [King Herod] had apprehended him, [Peter] he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. Jerusalem had already been infested with the pagan holiday of Easter in the time of Herod the king. The "resurrection" however is spoken of 41 times in 40 verses and NOT once are we told to remember it as the pagan Easter holiday promotes it.

Institution of the Lord's Supper

Luk 22:14-20 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cupisthe new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

We are never told by the Lord to remember His resurrection. It was His death on the cross that we're told to remember because it was that death which proclaimed "salvation" for humanity. The resurrection was only a result of His death on the cross. The resurrection of Jesus as a personal resurrection only identified Him as the Savior of the World. The resurrection DID NOT provide salvation for humanity but proved that that salvation was completed in His resurrection. Had Jesus never died on the cross, He would NOT have secured salvation for any human being.

Had Jesus just been slain by thieves on the side of the road as He walked the Earth there wouldn't have been any salvation for humanity and no resurrection from the grave. He would have died at the hands of wicked men and then been buried in a grave, in some "[potters field]" from which He would NOT have risen from. It had to be done on the cross and no other way could it have been done. That is why He told us to partake of the Lord's Passover Supper.

QUESTION: What did Jesus "Passover" from too? He passed over from death unto life which is what salvation is all about. Joh 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. For one to honor His resurrection ABOVE His death on the Cross is to do it backward's. His death is what we are told to remember and that is why most every table in front of almost every pulpit platform has inscribed upon it "Do This in Remembrance of Me" which honors His death NOT the resurrection.

QUESTION: Is there a reason to honor Jesus in the resurrection in His glorified state as the Savior of the World after He accomplished humanity's salvation? What good reason would the sinner need to see or remember the glorified resurrected Jesus after the fact of the cross? It's the Cross of Christ that we are told to remember NOT His resurrection. Without the Cross, there is NO need to see Him as the Savior of the World. You cannot see Him as the Savior without remembering the event of the Cross.

The resurrection was and is the result of the event of the Cross. After the Cross and after the resurrection we see Him as the "glorified Savior of the World" i.e God the Son in His glorified state of man. That recognition "of the Resurrection" does NOT and will NOT "save anyone!" It's the event of the Cross that took place there, and why it took place, and to who was involved when it took place is what we are told by the Lord to remember. The resurrection of Jesus was done specifically as a proof of His divinity and for a hope of living again after death for the believer if the believer overcomes to the end of the sinful life and proof to the wicked that they shall not escape the wrath of God for those who come up in the "second" resurrection of damnation. It was NOT done to honor a pagan holiday called Easter.

The other side of the coin is what is called "Good Friday", it was only a good Friday in that (that specific Friday) brought Jesus Christ to the cross for the salvation of mankind on that day at 9 am on that morning. Other than that there was nothing "good" about the day as the Lord of Glory was scourged and murdered at the hands of His own creation. It's called "Good Friday" in the respect of the "Death of Jesus" on the cross for salvation is what made it good and the vital part of the "good news of the Gospel" that we are told to remember. It's the completed salvation that He accomplished on the Cross that makes the day good for humanity and nothing else.
