The Moon into Blood

MOON into BLOOD

God would have no reason to turn the literal moon into literal blood. What purpose would it serve? This is prophecy and prophecy is the symbolic use of words in symbolism that reveal a literal event but that event revealed itself is NOT always literal but symbolic in revelation.

When God turned the waters of Egypt into "blood" it was NOT for the purpose of redeeming Egypt as a nation, nor Pharaoh as an individual. It was done so that Pharoah would acknowledge GOD as GOD!

Pharoah perished along with his army in the Sea. God had already ordained his death at the time the Nile was turned into blood. The sign to Pharoah was not for the redemption of the king, he had already been weighed in the balances of heavens justice, and perished with his army in the Red Sea.

Exo 15:19 For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.

For God to turn the moon into literal blood would have no purpose in warning the people, they would still be rebellious. The prophecy would take place long before the Second Coming as a sign of the "Great Day i.e. timeframe of human history" before God performs His "strange act"

Joel 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

This prophecy does NOT mean the Sun is going to burn out literally "go dark" in the heavens or that the moon is actually going to turn into literal blood. The keyword in this prophecy is not (darkness nor blood) as some may perceive. The keyword is "COME!" This indicates that the prophecy will be fulfilled before in part when Jesus returns the second time and completed a 1000 years later when He comes the third time. That is the "Day of the LORD, the Day of God, when the FULL END comes.

For Paul on the road to Damascus when Jesus appeared to him, the glory of God was brighter than the Sun, thus the "sun even though it wasn't dark" for Paul it was, as Paul identified the "light round about him" was brighter than the sun. In this regard, the sun went dark, lesser than the Shekinah Glory of God the Son. Act 26:13 At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.

It could have been said then that for Paul the sun was darkened in comparison to the Shekinah Glory of Jesus. It (the SUN) did NOT however become dark, it just faded in its strength compared to its CREATOR'S GLORY. The phrase "The sun shall be turned into darkness" simply is both literal and a symbolic term. IT CAN BE EITHER ONE OR BOTH OR NEITHER) COMPARED to God's glory when He returns, the SUN will diminish its brightness because the GLORY of God will exceed it. The term Joel used could be rendered "The sun (in comparison to God's GLORY) shall be turned into darkness as it was for Saul of Tarsus as it was only the GLORY of Jesus that Paul saw and it was that same glory that blinded the man.

We must be blinded to SELF with our ideas, and allow God to reveal His truth if we are to see with spiritual eyes. The Phrase Joel used as "the moon into blood" doesn't mean the actual moon will be blood nor appear to be blood as a sign of the Day of the LORD.

Joel never called it a sign either. To understand this phrase, one must look to the other areas of scripture where God used the substance of BLOOD as a sign. During the Exodus from Egypt God used "blood" as a literal sign to Pharoah by actually turning the Nile River into (blood) and all the vessels of Egypt contained blood as well. A (blood moon) is an appearance color not turned into actual BLOOD. There's a big difference in appearing as the color of blood and being actual blood in its substance.

Joel clearly states "into blood" not that the moon would appear simply as the color of blood. Therefore, a "blood moon" is NOT a biblical sign for the "Day of the LORD", it simply means that the "Day of the LORD" will shed the blood of many upon the earth. As the moon reflects the light of the Sun, it will reflect the blood of the slain of the LORD after the seventh and final plague falls upon humanity. At no time did Joel give us a specific date to the fulfillment of this prophecy. He did give us a general timeframe. That time frame is said to be before "the great and the terrible day of the LORD come."

Many prophets lived before Joel and some after Joel and all lived before the "Great and Terrible Day of the LORD." The day is NOT set in time as a specific day, it's a general term that takes place in human history before the LORD ends this mess for eternity.

QUESTION: When does the "great and the terrible day of the LORD come? ANSWER: Both BEFORE and AFTER the 1000 years of Revelation 20. I'll give you a hint IT'S AT THE SECOND and THIRD COMINGS OF JESUS CHRIST! For God's saints there will nothing terrible about the "Day of the Second Coming", but only joy for the people of God and GOD Himself.

The terrible aspect of that day will come at second coming for wicked humanity and the earth and again a 1000 years later and apply to the wicked and the Earth itself in their destruction, but NOT for the saints. This "great and terrible day of the LORD identifies TWO separate events in two separate times. The great day arrives for the saints at the Second Coming of Jesus. The terrible day comes for both the wicked and the earth in two separate phases one before and one a 1000 years later when God must do His strange work of eternal destruction upon the wicked. The Earth will suffer under the curse of SIN during the 1000 years. Jer 4:23-27 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.  I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.  I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.  I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.  For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.

AGAIN afterward it will be engulfed in FIRE (the Lake of Fire) that it may be purged of SIN eternally. 2Pe 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. (The terrible aspect of the Day of the LORD). If the heavens are (kept in store) as they are now, it's utterly impossible that the "moon" would then change into literal "blood."

People who associate "blood moons" with the prophecy of Joel DO NOT and cannot understand prophecy, as they are literalist, preterist, futurist and the prophecies are historical even before they take place. They are slated by God in history before history takes place. History is NOT confined to the past friends! History is both past, present, and future before GOD. When Joel spoke this prophecy, he knew and understood that the "Day of GOD" takes place in two separate phases.

The first phase (the great aspect) arrives at the Second Coming when GOD gathers His saints it's a great day for both God and the redeemed. A 1000 years after this event the (terrible aspect) of the Day of God arrives and God must then do something at that time a (strange act) that is not natural for a loving God to do. God must destroy the wicked in the flames of the Lake of Fire eternally. Isa 28:21 For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.

This is speaking of the final (third coming) of JESUS after the 1000 years. The Day of the LORD is not done on a single given specific day as we know the days today. The Day of the LORD identifies the time the LORD has chosen to complete a specific act for a specific purpose at a specific time.

EXAMPLE: If you agreed with another person to meet with them let's say on a Thursday at a specific time and date. You would say then that you have a day of meeting with a specific purpose with a specific individual. If your name is Joe it would be the Day of Joe and so-in-so whatever the name is of the one in which you are to meet up with.

QUESTION: Would that then be the end of time or would time go on after your meeting date arrived and passed and Friday arrived? The same applies to the Day of the LORD, it comes in two separate timeframes but is called the "Day of the LORD", the day God intervenes in human history the second and third times. The day God closes human history is the Day of the LORD. The time the LORD ends this mess for good. THE FULL END!

That's the DAY of the LORD, The prophecy isn't confining the works of GOD to a specific 24 hour day. But that 24 hour day is a part of human history when GOD does His strange ACT. The prophecy of Joel is set to take place sometime in human history BEFORE the "Day of the Lord" i.e. the closing of human history arrives in two separate phases a 1000 years apart. In the case of Joel 2:31 above, when Joel recorded it (it the prophecy) was yet still in the future from Joel's day. The prophecy was to take place before the "Great and terrible Day of the LORD" but Joel didn't tell us when it would be fulfilled, but that it would be fulfilled and fulfilled it was in 1780 A.D.

To explain this to any individual where they can understand the prophecy fulfillment, GOD and only God must guide the individual's mind otherwise they will not be able to understand the fulfillment. There are many aspects of the prophecy other than the "sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood" aspect of the prophecy.

To understand the prophecy can be compared to two different human personalities in an art museum. BOTH walk into the art gallery, one with no understanding of art walks up to a painting and places his/her nose literally on the paint in the picture. The other stands about 10 feet from the same painting behind the one with their nose on the painting.Tell me now which one will see the whole picture? Bible prophecy is a lot in some aspects like these two art critics. One can see the paint, the other can see the picture. One reads the record as written, the other looks for discernment of what is read. Many who read bible prophecy simply do just that, "they read it" but they cannot see it, just like the person with their nose on the painting's paint can't see the picture, they only see the paint.

Others, who allow God to guide their minds and not their individual egos will be able to see Gods meaning in the prophecy. They stand back, let their preconceived ideas fade, and allow the Spirit of God to teach them and then they can see the whole picture. Joel's prophecy here is not confined to a specific individual "day" of the LORD. Even without there ever being a thing called a day, when GOD acts for any reason it's the day or the time GOD acts and can be seen as the "Day of the LORD" the time God acts for any reason. In Genesis 1:1 in the phrase "In the Beginning" is a "Day of the LORD" the day God acted for a specific purpose.

Here is another aspect of scripture that many struggle with, and what appears on the surface as a biblical contradiction, but is in exact harmony with the word of God. The same man makes both statements. Paul is speaking!

Act 9:7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

Act 22:9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.

(Because ONLY Paul was the object and recipient of the detailed meeting between himself and the Lord Jesus.) Paul is NOT contradicting himself, he is just NOT stating the event in detail.

FIRST Paul says "the men with him heard a voice, but did NOT see Jesus as he saw Jesus." in Acts 9:7.

Then in Acts 22:9 Paul says "they heard not the voice of him that spake to me." They did witness the Shekinah Glory of Jesus visually and may have heard it thunder and Paul calls that thunder "a voice" but when Jesus spoke to Paul in vision, no one but Paul was addressed and only Paul heard the voice of Jesus.

When the FATHER spoke to the Son here is the record where the literal voice of the FATHER that spoke was perceived by those who heard it as thunder. Joh 12:28,29 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

Here let's say for example are FOUR men traveling to Damascus, suddenly a light brighter than the sun appears around these four men. The men aside from Paul could NOT avoid seeing this light. Acts 22:9 "And they that were with me saw indeed the light" then the thunder clasp shook the ground. Thus the phrase by Paul "hearing a voice, but seeing no man" (The VISION of PAUL was NOT meant for them to see) the other three men with Paul heard it thunder and Paul called this a "voice" in his phrase "hearing a voice, but seeing no man. Paul both heard and seen Jesus, the other men only heard Jesus. But, bec ause the message and vision was NOT meant for them, they only heard the words "Saul, Saul. This phrase Paul used here identifies to the hearers that ONLY Paul was the intended recipient of the message so they other thee couldn't and didn't hear the message of Jesus to Paul. They only knew that Paul was in direct communication with the Son of God and it for them was a thunder clasp as at Sinai when the Lord Jesus spoke to Moses from the cloud. Exo 24:16 And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud. Exo 19:16 And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice (sound) of the trumpet exceeding loud; (We know that a trumpet cannot speak with a voice) so that all the people that was in the camp trembled. Exo 19:19 And when the voice (sound) of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. Exo 19:20 And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount, and Moses went up. The Israelites heard the "call of Moses" to come up to the top of the mount, but they did NOT hear what God said to Moses there, not until Moses told them the instructions did they hear and then that was from Moses Himself. Just as the instruction from God to Moses was only between the two until Moses relayed it to the people. The Damascus road epiphany of Saul was only intended for Paul. The men saw a light, they heard it thunder, but ONLY Paul received the vision, Thus Paul states: "they heard not the voice of him that spake to me." They may have heard the name of Saul called "twice" and that is what Paul called a voice, but afterward they heard nothing else spoken to Paul. ONLY Paul hears it thus the phrase "hearing a voice, but seeing no man."The scripture NEVER contradicts itself from Genesis to Revelation it's in complete HARMONY.
